Pig Face

It is just about that time! All the pig face that sprawls across our coastlines, its fruit is just about ready to harvest.

Pig face is all around Tasmania, and some parts of Australia. It thrives in coastal areas as it keeps its water supplies in its thick leaves that enables it to live in salty coastal areas. There are 3 edible parts to the Pig Face: the flowers, leaves and fruit (get the jam pots ready). The leaves were traditionally used to treat sunburns, bug bites and other ailments. The flowers come out in early summer and when the fruit is ready to harvest the flower will die and the bulb will turn from green to red. - This is what you should be looking for. These fruits can be turned into a beautiful jam.
